To commemorate National Payroll Week, award-winning accountancy firm Milsted Langdon is highlighting the important role that payroll professionals have played during the Coronavirus crisis.
Held annually by the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP), the awareness week, which runs from 7-11 September is intended to highlight and celebrate the positive impact the payroll industry has in the UK.
This year more than ever, payroll professionals have been tested by the ever-changing nature of the Government’s Coronavirus support packages, according to Milsted Langdon, and have been identified as essential workers within the financial services industry.
It is thought that those in the payroll profession have helped to contribute £325.7 billion* to the UK economy in 2020-21 by helping with the collection of Income Tax and National Insurance.
Oliver King, Payroll Manager at Milsted Langdon, said: “We thought that National Payroll Week offered a fantastic opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the hard work of local payroll professionals in the South West during the last 12 months.
“It has been a challenging period for businesses and their employees and so having payroll experts that they can rely on has been essential in many cases.
“Our team have worked exceptionally well throughout the pandemic to make sure clients have the support and advice they need.”
