The Home Office has pledged a programme of support for charities and other organisations that challenge extremism in their communities.

The funding is part of the Government’s wider four-year counter extremism initiative, ‘Building a Stronger Britain Together’.

Organisations are able to apply for in-kind support up to the value of £75,000, or grant funding of up to £50,000.

In-kind support can include social media training, help setting up a website, and advice on media activity. There will be a new call for bids for each new financial year to make sure the funding has impact across all four years, and to make sure that support is always given to groups doing the most relevant and innovative work.

The programme aims to support civil society and community organisations that work to create more resilient communities, stand up to extremism in all forms and offer vulnerable individuals a positive alternative.

Umbrella organisation, UK Community Foundations, in partnership with M&C Saatchi, has been awarded £800,000 worth of funding and will deliver the programme, via community foundations to charities, and organisations in its own areas
