One of the UK’s top accountancy firms has forged ahead with its plans to become one of the leading tax practices in the country with the appointment of three new dedicated tax directors.

The trio of tax specialists have all joined the firm in the last 12 months following its success at the prestigious Tolley’s Taxation Awards 2016, where the firm was named Best Tax Practice in a Regional Firm.

Since then Milsted Langdon has been inundated with new tax work, both on the compliance and planning side of the practice.

The three new directors include Leon Cane, Mike Bagg and Julian Borley, each of whom has a deep level of expertise in their respective areas of tax.

Leon joined the practice last summer, bringing with him a strong background in international tax matters.  He has a particularly deep understanding of the issues arising when selling into Chinese markets and is currently working with a number of businesses looking to expand into China. Alongside this he is also an expert on Stamp Duty Land Tax and regularly assists both clients and lawyers with SDLT planning and reporting.

The next director to join the practice was Mike Bagg, early this year. Mike specialises in personal tax planning, particularly in regards to inheritance tax, trusts and estate planning. Mike previously headed up a trust team locally. He is based in the firm’s Yeovil office covering the surrounding areas and has already recruited in a further team member, David Godfrey.

Finally, their latest director appointment Julian Borley joins Milsted Langdon with over 20 years’ experience in VAT. Julian started his career within HMRC having spent his more recent years working in practice. Through his experiences he has gained an insight into the mind of VAT inspectors, which has proved useful on a number of occasions.  He specialises in providing VAT advice for property planning matters and for charities.
