Milsted Langdon’s Chairman speaks at Somerset in Business conference

Jonathan Langdon, Chairman and Founding Partner of award-winning chartered accountants Milsted Langdon, was recently invited to speak at the prestigious Somerset in Business conference and illustrate through case studies how the firm is an exemplary leader in its field.

Visited by more than 250 business people, the seventh annual conference – which is the main business conference in the county – was jointly organised by the Somerset Chamber of Commerce and Into Somerset; the County’s inward investment organisation. It was divided into three sessions and these were: Inspiring Young People in the Workplace, Higher Level Skills for Business, and Skilling the Hinkley Workforce.

Reflecting on these topics, Jonathan, who is a board member of Into Somerset, emphasised the importance of encouraging and nurturing talent and ability. He explained how Milsted Langdon’s investment in training has been rewarded and said: “I feel passionately that it is an employer’s responsibility to develop its workforce, but the accountant in me also recognises that it makes excellent commercial sense.”

Graham Knight, Chair of the Somerset Chamber of Commerce added: “I am absolutely delighted with this year’s conference. Skills is such a critical issue for us here in Somerset and to get key business people together to hear the issues of the day and discuss the various implications is a great testimony to everyone involved.”

Sponsored by EDF Energy, Somerset College, Bridgwater College and GAIN, the conference was followed by an opportunity for delegates to engage in one-to-one surgeries with the Hinkley Supply Chain, National Apprenticeship Service, Somerset Chamber of Commerce, Into Somerset, GAIN, and SWMAS.
