The audit and tax teams at Milsted Langdon are celebrating a number of recent appointments with a distinctly international flavour.
The firm has been appointed as auditor for several UK subsidiaries of international parent companies, thanks to its expertise in the structuring of these entities and handling the international group reporting requirements.
New appointments include the UK subsidiaries of an international renewable energy and wind turbine manufacturer headquartered in Spain, a UK subsidiary of an internationally focused Danish software business and a UK company set up on behalf of a New Zealand-based recruitment business. These new client wins add to the existing portfolio of subsidiaries for which the firm continues to act, including companies with headquarters as far apart as Hong Kong, Australia and the US. The firm also acts for a significant UK branch operation of a listed Polish construction business.
Over the years, Milsted Langdon has developed considerable expertise in assisting international businesses taking their first steps into the UK market, as well as more established UK subsidiaries looking for higher levels of service which were not being delivered by their previous accountants. Many directors of smaller UK subsidiaries find that it is simply not cost-effective to use Big Four or mid-tier group auditors to provide the hands-on support needed to get an operation up and running in an unfamiliar territory.
Tax partner Rob Chedzoy said: “As well as being able to support these businesses from an audit, accounting and tax perspective, we can provide hands-on support with areas such as payroll, income tax and social security reporting for international business visitors, benefits reporting, and making the best use of the UK corporate tax regime, including patent box and research and development (R&D) tax credits. We have the skills to handle group reporting requirements and regularly work alongside Big Four group auditors in reporting local financial results.
“We pride ourselves on being able to offer levels of expertise normally associated with national firms, but delivered with the personal touch found at smaller, independent practices, with many of our team having first-hand experience of working within Big Four and mid-tier firms.”
