Chartered accountant

Tim Close is licensed as an insolvency practitioner in the UK by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Tim Close, former chair of Milsted Langdon, is a licensed insolvency practitioner and is responsible for the compliance of the firm. He co-ordinates the firm’s services for under-performing businesses and for formal insolvency appointments. He trained and qualified with Price Waterhouse in London, returning to the West Country where he transferred to their Bristol Office. In 1989 he joined the newly formed firm of Milsted Langdon. After dividing his work commitments between general practice and insolvency, he concentrated on the latter specialism when the firm established a designated department to deal with financially troubled businesses in 1991. The firm is now recognised as a major independent operation in this specialism in the South West.

As Compliance Principal at Milsted Langdon, Tim has overall responsibility for the firm’s regulatory and associated obligations and is familiar with mediations and other dispute resolution procedures.

Detailed Summary of Experience

Tim is recognised as an established player in his field in the West Country. His keen interest in the technical aspects of his specialism has meant that he has lectured extensively, including for R3, the national association dealing with Rescue, Recovery and Reconstruction, and to bankers, solicitors and other professionals. He is also involved on a national level with the regulation of the insolvency profession.

The broad experience he has gained in over thirty years of dealing with troubled businesses has given him a thorough understanding of the difficulties, both financial and emotional, faced by proprietors and directors when their businesses are under-performing or facing closure. His practical and commercial approach to problems generates innovative solutions to many such situations.
