PIM expert is Milsted Langdon Tax Partner

Milsted Langdon’s Tax Partner, Stephen Griffiths, was a guest speaker at the Property Investment Meeting (PIM).

Organised by Property Options, the monthly PIM is an opportunity for Bristol’s property investors to network and learn from experts, as well as discover new investment strategies and uncover opportunities and deals.

The meeting took place at Bristol’s Bond Street Holiday Inn and saw Stephen discuss property transaction taxes. His presentation covered:

  • Capital gains tax versus income tax versus corporation tax on rental income and property sales
  • Stamp Duty Land Tax planning opportunities on the acquisition of residential property and the transfer of property portfolios into limited companies
  • The pros and cons of corporate property ownership, compared to personal ownership
  • VAT aspects of the development of non-residential property into living accommodation

Tax is a very important area to get right in order to maximise returns from property and build a profitable property business. Stephen is an expert in this area as he is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, the Association of Taxation Technicians and the Institute of Indirect Taxation. He has extensive experience of dealing with personal and business tax compliance as well as knowledge of indirect taxes such as VAT and stamp taxes.
