Seminar throws spotlight on future of farming

Farmers and agricultural businesses have been given food for thought at a seminar organised by Milsted Langdon in conjunction with HSBC, rural business consultancy Laurence Gould Partnership and Pardoes Solicitors.

The event, entitled Your Farm, Your Future, took place at Yeovil Town Football Club on 5 March and was attended by around 80 clients of the four organisers.

The evening was divided into individual presentations, with Nigel Moysey, partner and agriculture specialist at Milsted Langdon, speaking on inheritance tax and capital gains tax on business and agricultural property.

Delegates also heard talks on the financial position of farming, changes to the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and partnership agreements, with particular emphasis on the dissolution of partnerships.

Nigel said: “It was a very enjoyable evening. Following the presentations, we had a carvery and then there was an opportunity to network with other guests and professionals.”
