Small charities have been “urged” to apply for match funding after it was revealed that hundreds of thousands of pounds are still available through the Local Action Fund.
The National Emergencies Trust (NET) – the scheme’s administrator – said the funding will help not-for-profit organisations who have faced difficulties due to the pandemic.
According to the trust’s latest accounts, more than 13,000 grants have been awarded to meet the urgent needs of UK charities since March 2020.
But it was revealed that £747,000 is still available through the Local Action Fund, a match-funding partnership launched with Crowdfunder UK last year.
To apply, registered charities and community organisations are required to set up a fundraising campaign on Crowdfunder UK and the NET will match donations they receive up to £10,000.
Do note, however, that your charity must raise funds from at least 25 unique supporters within four weeks of launching a crowdfunding appeal.
Commenting on the fund, Mhairi Sharp, CEO of the National Emergencies Trust, said: “The Local Action Fund was launched to help small local projects to get back on their feet after the challenges of the pandemic, and remains as relevant as ever following the latest measures announced in December.
“We’ve decided to keep the Fund open so that those in need of a financial boost, either for new projects or to cover core costs, don’t miss out at this difficult time.”
