Rises in the National Minimum Wage will come into effect from 1 April 2023.
The National Minimum wage (NMW) increases are detailed in the table below.
The new rates are:
23 and over | 21 to 22 | 18 to 20 | Under 18 | Apprentice | |
April 2022 (current rate) | £9.50 | £9.18 | £6.83 | £4.81 | £4.81 |
April 2023 | £10.42 | £10.18 | £7.49 | £5.28 | £5.28 |
These changes are expected to benefit around two million of the UK’s lowest-paid workers.
Please ensure that you are paying your staff the correct pay rate for their age as there are large penalties for failing to comply with the NMW legislation.
