Charity sector gets latest guidance from Milsted Langdon at The Business Exchange Charity Conference & Expo

Hundreds of charity leaders from across the South West and beyond have gained useful insights into the future of their finances from our team at The Business Exchange Charity Conference & Expo.

As long-time headline sponsors of this important annual show, we were delighted to be able to take part once again in this important event for third sector organisations.

This event offers local businesses, charities, and not-for-profit organisations an opportunity to connect, share their experiences and learn from some of the South West’s leading experts, including our own General Practice Partner and head of our Charities and Not for Profit team, Gill Freeman.

It was great meeting so many inspiring people and groups and we were glad to be able to share our advice from our stand at the event at Bath Racecourse.

This year’s event included a networking breakfast with The Business Exchange Founder and Editor Anita Jaynes in conversation with guest speaker Hamish Evans, Co-Founder of Community Interest Company, Middle Ground Growers (MGG) talking about their extraordinary achievement of raising over £96,000 in just 69 days through a successful crowdfunding campaign, and an opening welcome from our expert Gill, talking about the firm’s commitment to the popular event which helps the local charity sector to thrive.

This was followed by a series of seminars and talks throughout the day, including our own Finance FAQs presentation, which looked into the dangers of cybersecurity, the rules around charity reserve policies and questions from the audience on the differences between a charity and a Community Interest Company.

Speaking after the event, Gill said: “Charities and not-for-profit organisations have had a challenging few years and so this event was a great opportunity for them to share their experiences and lessons while getting the latest updates and advice from the sector’s top experts.

“We are proud to be a sponsor of this event and it was great catching up with so many passionate charity leaders to share advice and guidance on the issues that matter to the sector.”
