Meet the Expert – A Quick Q&A with Robert Rawle

In our latest “Meet the Expert” feature, General Practice Partner, Robert Rawle, tells us about his accounting experience, the importance of seeking the right expert advice and shares his love for travel, music and the outdoors.

Tell us about your experience.

I started my career in 1995 with Milsted Langdon and after two years, I moved to Bristol, jumping ahead of the firm’s growth curve and spent 20 years with Bishop Fleming, where I was head of their creative and media sector.

For the last seven years, I’ve been back with Milsted Langdon, and look after many clients on their respective businesses and personal journeys, as well as helping when thinking about taxes, with a focus on longer-term wealth management in mind.

I still look after many clients in the Media and Creative sectors but have a good number of clients in tech and property.  I have always got my greatest buzz in work from helping a client achieve their business goals and move from A to Z, while looking out and helping to deal with the odd curve ball on that route.

What is the one key piece of advice you would tell your clients?

There is no such thing as a stupid question. I’ve been an accountant for 30 years now and wouldn’t expect anyone to know everything about anything! Go to the right expert and take advantage of their experience, as you will get to the end a lot quicker when working together.

Outside of work, what are your hobbies?

As anyone who knows me would agree, I am trying hard not to grow up too fast! I love travel, food, and music (whether that’s opera, or a good night of techno music (more day parties these days)). I love the cinema, theatre, and exhibitions as these things make me think and challenge my thought process.

I also love the outdoors and gardening. As I spend a lot of my time sitting in front of a computer screen, I like to get away from the desk and get some fresh air.
