Milsted Langdon Forensic Director chairs influential national forensic accounting conference

Milsted Langdon’s Forensic Director, Helen Gregory, has hosted this year’s successful national conference as Chair of the Network of Independent Forensic Accountants (NIFA).

Held at The Welcombe Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon, on 30 November and 1 December, the annual conference brought together 33 delegates to share ideas, knowledge and innovations in the field.

With incidences of fraud on the rise nationally, the work of NIFA has become all the more important and this hot topic became the focus of many of the discussions at this year’s event.

It also features a variety of speakers that include solicitors, judges, barristers and technical experts.

In particular, guests heard from James Pirrie, FLIP who delivered an update on changes in family law, Arun Chauhan of Tenet Law who covered the current trends and hot topics in fraud, as well as from Sonia Jordan of IBB Law regarding directors’ duties.

Commenting on the conference, Helen said: “This conference is always a fantastic opportunity for our members to share their expertise, get to know one another and learn something new.

“For all of us at Milsted Langdon, it was particularly exciting because of our long history within NIFA – reflecting the expertise behind our full range of forensic accounting services.

“My colleague, Roger Isaacs, is serving as National Technical Director for the Network, and I am honoured to be serving as Chair.”

NIFA began with a membership of just six firms upon its foundation in 1999. Since then, it has evolved to comprise 22 accounting professionals across the UK and Ireland – delivering an efficient, reliable service in the field of forensic accounting, supported by the Network’s directory.

Its members are all qualified accountants, with membership in either The Academy of Experts or the Expert Witness Institute.

“The value that a forensic accountant can bring to complex fraud cases, matrimonial matters and other complicated legal proceedings can often be significant,” added Helen.

“This conference was an opportunity to showcase the incredible range of expertise that we have in this industry.”

Helen was voted in as Chair in September 2022, a position she continues to hold alongside her forensic accounting practice at Milsted Langdon.

A member of The Academy of Experts, she has specialised in the field for 25 years, acting in a variety of civil and criminal cases, from fraud to personal injury.

A longstanding member of NIFA, Helen has helped to develop the network and support members and forensic accounting services in her time as Chair.
