In our latest “Meet the Expert” feature, Sarah Jenkins, Audit and General Practice Partner, who is also the firm’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), tells us about her roles at Milsted Langdon, her previous experience and what advice she is giving her clients at the moment.
Tell us about your experience
I began my accountancy career training with KPMG in the audit department. From there, I have developed my expertise in handling owner-managed businesses and group structures, which paved the way for my roles as a tax and accounting tutor and subsequently as an audit partner in two mid-tier accountancy practices.
What is your role at Milsted Langdon?
As COO I focus on the operational practices across the firm, looking to drive change through improved efficiency and the continuous enhancement of internal systems and controls.
It’s important to have a proactive approach to integrating new technology to ensure that both the firm – and our clients – are at the forefront of innovation to reap the benefits associated with digitalisation.
This links with another of my responsibilities where I lead Milsted Langdon’s Business Innovation team.
This team of specialists is dedicated to researching and deploying cutting-edge technologies and guides our clients in leveraging technology to enhance their business operations.
As well as my operational responsibilities, I also have a sizable client portfolio, which is varied and spans many sectors including legal, property, charities and Not for Profit.
What advice are you giving your clients at the moment?
We’re encouraging our clients to move to cloud accounting (if they haven’t already done so), so they are prepared for Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self-Assessment and the changes that will ensue in 2026.
Many of our clients have already seen the benefits of making the switch which can include keeping business owners and their teams connected to real-time data – the software can also integrate with a whole ecosystem of third-party business apps with even more benefits and efficiencies.
Our Business Innovation team is ideally placed to guide clients through the migration to cloud accounting and will be on hand every step of the way.
