Chartered Accountant
Peter is a Forensic Accountant and Accountancy Expert Witness. Peter qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1990 when he began to specialize in forensic accounting. Peter is a Fellow of the ICAEW, a Certified Fraud Examiner and is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
Peter specialises in commercial disputes, damages and business interruption claims. He advises on the investigation and interrogation of accounting records, on the application of accounting standards and issues of value and quantum. Peter also has in depth experience of acquisition disputes including purchase price adjustments, earn-outs and accounting warranty claims.
Peter has over the course of his career produced numerous expert reports for both litigation and arbitrations, regularly prepares experts’ joint statements and has given simultaneous evidence (known as “hot tubbing”). Peter has given evidence on multiple occasions in the English High Court, in courts in other common law jurisdictions and before a wide range of international arbitral tribunals (including under LCIA, ICC, SCC, SIAC and LMAA rules). He has prepared submissions to common law determining experts as well as experts under civil law binding advice procedures and is regularly instructed as a determining expert.
He has particular experience of the shipping, maritime and the offshore oil and gas industries. His experience also includes international trade, manufacturing and construction industries.
